Treatments / statistics / sources with prostate cancer that has spread to lymph nodes?
A friend was diagnosed with cancer prostate that has spread to their lymph nodes only (has not spread to other organs or bones). All I can find are the sources that explain staging and treatment, but more aggressive treatment (surgery / radiation) seem to be only for localized cancer or low grade. Be FDA seems to always have the approval of drugs or treatments used overseas with great results, how can I find information on these types studies conducted outside the U.S.? Is it just a matter of time before the cancer spreads from the nodes at this time or is a photo of chemotherapy and hormones to stop? Since it has not spread beyond, not removing the prostate, along with the nodes of benefit to him? Nothing found that indicate surgery as an option once extending from the prostate. I'm sorry this is so long with so many questions! Thank you!
Radiation of the bed of the prostate and hormone treatment are possible future actions. Chemo was not used until the final stage. With these therapies, is about five years life expectancy, because even Late stage disease is slow. You can find case studies http://www.yananow.net and you can work with their statistics in http://www.prostatecalculator.org You can use Google Scholar to research journal articles. Best of luck. As for treatments outside the U.S., few initiatives the prostate cancer research from overseas. The only important therapy abroad is HIFU I know, but that is not appropriate for a case advance.
