Should I get a prostate biopsy?
I am fifty years old. I started feeling pain in the groin and testicles two weeks ago and saw a urologist. A DRE was normal and my PSA was also normal (1.1). The urinalysis revealed no infections. At the moment I saw the doctor, my symptoms pain had disappeared almost completely and told me not to worry. A few days later, my pain started again. During the past four days, I'm feeling pains at different times in the groin and thighs. I also feel occasional pain in my penis and testicles. My frequency of urination is slightly elevated. The reason is that I am alarmed because I have been feeling a lot of fatigue during the past month. My family doctor diagnosed a sinus infection and prescribed probable antibiotcs two different, none of which worked. I fear that my fatigue may be caused by prostate cancer is possible, although my tests were normal. I feel stress. Is it appropriate that I ask my urologist to give me a prostate biopsy?
Pain in the penis, testicles, the upper thigh and groin are not symptoms of prostate cancer. Symptoms include difficulty urinating or emptying the bladder, dribbling after urination or before and urine flow weak. These are due to prostatic obstruction of the urethra. See urologist again on the possibility of epididymitis, orchitis, testicular torsion, hernia testicles, all of which can cause the symptoms you describe, testicular hernia, especially since you also have pain in the upper thigh – a common symptom of the hernia.
