Prostatitis or cancer?
Please help calm me. Begun at the end of last year, with frequent micturition with no other symptoms, my PSA was 2.7 and was sent to Urologist for further testing. The urologist did a digital rectal exam and told me that my prostate nodule is soft and not detected, although the right side prostate is slightly larger. It is suspected that a kind of inflammation that causes a slightly elevated PSA and gave me Septra one months and 2 weeks of 600 mg ibuprofen after 2-3 weeks, my frequencies were completely normal. A month later, the need to urinate again started with pain in the pelvic area after more frequent sex with my wife. PSA I checked again before returning to see the specialist. The PSA was 3.5 and prostate felt again, but no changes, no nodules and soft. CIRP given, but does not change much. The symptom of malaise still come and go, usually a day after the return sex and last about a week. I'm afraid to do a biopsy and was diagnosed with cancer. Please help me. Thx.
Benign inflammation and other conditions such as BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) can cause an elevated PSA. Elevated PSA levels do not always mean cancer. PSA can be increased if a man has ejaculated within two days of testing. Some doctors consider 4.0 or higher for an elevated PSA. You will have to follow the advice of a specialist in this situation. If he / she recommends a http://users.isp.com/keoni/turp/Whatis.html TURP procedure, can reach an agreement for peace of mind. This question can be a bit too technical for Yahoo Answers, since most of us are not medical professionals. I have some knowledge of turpentine and hyperplastia prostate and prostate cancer, as my father died of prostate cancer.
